 Cruise Ship Arrivals Still Declining

Cozumel Cruise Ship Arrivals Still Declining

COZUMEL, August 10. –  Cruise ship arrivals are still decreasing, with only ten cruise ships scheduled to arrive next week. There will be three long days of just one ship and the expectation of receiving just between 25 and 30 thousand people, which leaves much to be desired.

Ten cruises was until recently the record for a week during this season.  Although last May, due to the departure of several ships of the route, there were several weeks with nine arrivals and one with eight. This is so far the worst ever recorded, from the impact of the hurricane “Wilma” in October 2005, to the present time.

For this week, there will be three days, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, with only one cruise ship in port. On Tuesday and Friday two boats arrive and Saturday is expected to be the best day of the week with three arrivals.

Again, the Puerta Maya terminal, linked to the shipping company Carnival, gets the lion’s share, capturing eight of the ten ships, while SSA and Punta Langosta receive one each.

The official Cruise schedule for this week, as was announced by the Port Authority of Quintana Roo in Cozumel and is subject to change without notice, is as follows:
