Mexico Drivers License for Foreigners

First Time License Application

FOREIGN CITIZENS OF AGE WHO LIVE IN THIS MUNICIPALITY

In the event that you do not have  a driver’s license and an open file in this municipality, you must come with the following requirements:

• Theoretical and practical driving test. (For more information visit here)
• Original and legible copy of any of these documents: FM2, FM3 with local registration or naturalization letter.
• Original and legible copy of the passport.
• Original and legible copy of the CURP.
• General medical certificate with blood type.
• Original and legible copy of recent proof of address (recent water, electricity or telephone bill)
• 2 recent infantil-sized photographs in color or black and white.
• A new letter size folder.

Note: The license will have the same validity as your immigration document. Scanned photos or fax copies are NOT accepted. Men must submit photographs without earrings, with their forehead and ears clear.

If you already have a driver’s license and an open file in this municipality and wish to obtain another type of license, you must go to the corresponding office with the following requirements, depending on the case:

MOTORCYCLE LICENSE:

• Only licenses that have been issued in this municipality can be replaced.
• Only original minutes and legible copies are accepted.
• Only the INE, passport and military card will be accepted as identification; credentials from another institution, company or organization are inadmissible as personal identification.
• Other proofs such as cable or landline or mobile telephone receipts will be accepted, as long as they are in the name of the processor.
• Medical certificates containing data from the laboratory, the issuing doctor or the clinic, as well as the signature, seal and number of the chemist’s professional license, will be accepted, regardless of the year of issue.
• Photographs cut from another document or that show stamp marks, abuse, or that do not meet the requested characteristics are inadmissible.
• The folder must be in good condition; they are unacceptable if they are recycled, written on, scratched, stained or mistreated.
• Due to the health contingency due to coronavirus COVID-19, the process is from Monday to Friday from 8:00 am. to 3 p.m. (It should be noted that a prior cut will be made for the closure of the area, considering the users in process within it and those waiting who have already been previously verified in their documentation by the officer on duty)
• Times and days may be subject to changes determined by superiority, WITHOUT prior notice.
• Any omission or violation of the established requirements, procedures or documentation will be grounds for rejecting the procedure, until it conforms to what was requested. As previously announced in a timely and clear manner.

• To obtain a public service driver’s license, you must present a letter from the transportation concessionaire such as UNIPER or the Taxi Drivers’ Union.

For the procedures and their health conditions:

• Present yourself to carry out the corresponding procedure free of alcohol poisoning or other substances, as well as free of serious states of anxiety or stress or anything that represents a threat to the order of the area, as well as the safety of the staff and other people who are present. .
