no crime“NO Criminal Record” Price Increase

The official “No Criminal Record” certificate is used to determine if someone has been convicted of any crime. If you will be in need of this documentation, it will now cost you $156 pesos. It was explained that the 25% increase was necessary because the cost had been held at $116 pesos for the past seven years.

On average, there are 300 requests each month for this document. Dilmer Azueta Herrera, PGJE administrator, reported that in 2013 three thousand were issued, an increase of 8.56% from the previous year.

The requirements for obtaining a copy of the document for citizens are birth certificate, voter card, two photographs (child-sized front), & CURP. Foreigners must present passport and current immigration documentation.

You must apply at the Judicial Building on 65th next to the Cruz Roja. The amount must be paid at a bank  and there is a three-day waiting period for the delivery of the certificate.

fireMock Fire Alarms Police & Firefighters

Members of the Fire Department and Municipal Police mobilized to address a fire that was reported to the 066 emergency center earlier this week.  Upon arriving at the store, located on Avenida Rafael E. Melgar and Calle 8, jewelry employees told them that it was a smoke caused by a mock theft. Parties responsible for organizing the mock theft apparently failed to notify the authorities.

People who were passing by stopped to watch the “fire”.  Tourists and employees of the surrounding businesses thought it was a real fire also. It is unknown whether the company will be sanctioned for  the mobilization of firefighters and law enforcement.  “We were not advised. But we will pass the report to the Directorate of Civil Protection and see what they do there, “said one of the firefighters who left the area looking very annoyed.

On average each year the Directorate of Civil Protection conducts or supervises about 350 or fire safety drills, both private companies and government agencies.
