City of Cozumel Prepares for State Employment Day
The Municipal Government headed by Mayor Fredy Marrufo Martín, through the Department of Economic Development, will conduct the Eighth Annual “State Day for Employment” to be held on Thursday March 12 in “Quintana Roo” Park from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Adrián Alcérreca Balmes, Manager of the office of Economic Development, encourages people who are in search of a stable job to present a resume or employment application. There will be job openings in areas of hotels, stores, restaurants and other commercial businesses.
The event will be held in coordination with “Secretaria de Trabajo y Previsión Social” (STyPS), and the “Servicio Estatal del Empleo y Capacitación para el Trabajo de Quintana Roo” (Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare (STyPS) and the State Employment Service and “Training for Work Quintana Roo”).
Cozumel Children Receive Preventive Talk on Dengue & Chikungunya
As part of the first National Day to Fight Dengue and Chikungunya, Kids at the (CENDI) 2 Child Development Center, received a talk on the subject. For an hour, in an entertaining and simple way representative of the Ministry of Health, Yolanda Garcia Perez spoke to the children about what is dengue and what must be done to prevent the mosquito that causes it.
She explained what things to keep and which to throw, she told them that tires should be discarded or put in places where there are not full of water, buckets should be turned upside down for the same, and that the tanks and drums should remain covered, among other things.
“Because they are so young, we talked about things they can understand; so that later at home they will tell their parents what they were told and be participants of the purpose of these talks, which is to have an island free of breeding mosquitoes where there are no diseases, “she concluded.
Cozumel City Maps To Guide To Tourism
A few weeks ago, Melissa Angulo Gámez, from the Directorate of Urban Development oversaw the installation of maps containing the location of the Cozumel sites in the entire island.
The placement of 27 maps across the island is to provide information to both domestic and foreign visitors, with the intention that they can access data and visit different places in town. The signs will be useful and a benefit to the community as visitors can learn the location of archaeological sites, beaches, and shopping centers, among other places of interest, identified on the maps. There are two types of maps and some places will display both of them; 13 are from the city center and 14 are of the entire island. They are made with weather resistant material.
Among the places that will be located on the map is the entrance to “Punta Sur” Ecological Park, “El Cedral”, “Puerta Maya”, “Royal Village”, “Palacio Municipal”, Public Beach “Mezcalitos”, “Mercado Municipal”, “Muelle Fiscal”, “Punta Langosta”, “El Mueso de la Isla”, “Aeropuerto Internacional”, the “Explanada de la Bandera”, “Chankanaab” Natural Park and the “Monumento Dos culturas” in front the beach “Casita”. Eventually the “Reloj Público”, (Public Clock) will be added on 5th Avenue and Adolfo Rosado Salas, 5th Avenue with 2 north, next to the ” Iglesia San Miguel “.
At a meeting last week, Mrs. Gina Ruiz de Marrufo was unanimously appointed President of the Board of “Centro de Rehabilitación Integral de Cozumel” (CRIC).
Cozumel Dental Health Program for Preschoolers
In order to create good oral habits from an early age, the System for Integral Family Development (DIF) of Cozumel, chaired by Mrs. Gina Ruiz de Marrufo, held an oral health program for preschoolers. The goal is to reach all kindergartens in the city. The health program is introduced to children in an entertaining and dynamic talk about what is a cavity, how to prevent it and how to brush their teeth. After, each child is examined and given a diagnosis that is passed on to the parents. Private practice oral diagnosis is around 300 pesos and that this program is free.
