Still in Quarantine!

The vulnerable population such as children, seniors, and those with preexisting conditions such as diabetes, asthma, etc. are still directed to stay at home for their safety.

The local population is asked to go about the necessary business only, practicing much caution! Those lucky enough to have jobs must be extreely cautious and take all the hygiene measures to prevent contamination of family members.

The Corona virus has not gone anywhere. The new normal procedures are in effect to slowly open the economy with the safety procedures in place.

Commandments for a Healthy Diet during the Covid-19

I am ashamed to say how many kilos I have gained in the last three months of quarantine. Let us say that I am well on my way to be twice the woman I used to be! I should have published and followed this advice back in March when we first started

  1. Plan your meals for at least one week. Buy all your ingredients in one shopping trip.
  2. Plan your meals with nutritional value: fruits, vegetables, legumes, integral cereals, eggs, chicken, meats, and lactose low in fat.
  3. Prioritize combinations of integral cereals and legumes.
  4. Eat fruits and vegetables daily, a minimum of five times per day.
  5. Eat healthy snacks consisting of dry fruits and seeds.
  6. Avoid processed foods and beverages that contain large quantities of salt, sugar, grease, and other conservatives.
  7. Drink a minimum of 8 glasses of water plus other liquids without sugar and salt.
  8.  Cook without or little grease/oil. Preferably Grill and/or steam the food.
  9. Use extreme hygiene when preparing and handling food.
  10. Eat as a family without distraction. Take advantage of healthy recipes published online.
