Thank You for your Support!
Once again, thanks to all of you that have sent words of encouragement and get well wishes. Your support, patience and understanding has been humbling. God Bless you all!
Thank you for the donations that have helped keep The Cozumel Sun and the Community Kitchens going. A special thanks to my grandson Julian Martinez Cabrera for helping with TCS Facebook group!
TCS is non-profit and non-government funded. Donations help pay for website expenses, taxes, fees and TCS Community Assistance projects. There are no paid staff.
On the Home Front
I am feeling much better, but I tire easily. At this point it is hard to tell if It is the result of the long illness, depression, or both! I am trying my best to keep the Cozumel Sun going.
Cozumel Schools
School Started in Cozumel Via the television and internet.
The Online Segment
My granddaughter Gigi started 4th grade and has classes with her teacher Live online. Luckily in fourth grade there is only one teacher for all subjects. The higher grades have up to seven sessions with subject teachers online.
The television Segment
There is an educational hour on television for each grade. The hour includes physical education. Each video is presented in the morning and again in the evening. This enables the parents to supervise the children irregardless of their work schedule. Both segments are coordinated and there is homework as usual.
Textbooks
We are expecting the textbooks for this year to arrive any day. Parents will be assigned a time to pick up the textbooks. This will prevent a crowd gathering at the school.
My grandson Julian started University Classes online yesterday. Julian is 17 and is helping by working the Papeleria Store and approving TCS advertising and member requests on our Facebook page. He is also posting the daily COVID-19 report. We are so very proud of him.

Todos Somos Cozumel
Another Option for Giving
Todos Somos Cozumel is a Non-Governmental Organization whose sole purpose is to help the most vulnerable of Cozumel. Its founder and president, Reyes Ramirez, understands the needs of this segment of the population; as he grew up as one of society’s most vulnerable. TSC is funded entirely by donations. The organization provides food, clothing, shelter, and medical care whenever a person or family cannot provide for themselves.
All requests for help are thoroughly vetted by Don Ramirez himself. There is an identity check, economic survey, home visit, verification with referring medical facility etc. Mr. Ramirez determines the eligibiñity of those enrolled in the program.
Although Todos Somos Cozumel will help with any type of need, there is emphasis on medical care. It has recently opened a dispensary on the grounds of Santos Mártires Church on Ave 80. An internist, psychologist and physical therapist donate their services to the dispensary. They also go to the patient’s home when necessary.
Don Ramirez is retired from the military. He has arranged for a quarterly shipment of donated medicines from the Mexican military. The medication is available to those entolled in the program. When a medicine is not in his stock, he reaches out to his network of donors to provide it.
Food and medicine donations for Todos Somos Cozumel can be dropped off on the side of Corpus Christi Church (Xel Ha between 20 and 15 Bis.)
