Cozumel wood houses are a disappearing sight. But, they still sit among the concrete fortresses in several locations around Centro.
The story has it that the houses were originally built in Belize and brought here by sea. The first roofs were either tin or thatch. Once concrete became more popular (and cheaper), the local people quit building with wood.
