Museo de la Isla de Cozumel

The Museum of Cozumel is excellent. If you have not been there, it is a must see. In addition to the regular exhibits, the Museum hosts Art Exhibits, Social Events, and Classes.

The Museum is in a historic building dating back to the 1930s. It was once one of the first hotels in Cozumel. The Museum offers permanent exhibition rooms, a broad vision of the geography, ecosystems, history, and culture of the island of Cozumel.

In its 11 interactive rooms, discover in a playful, informed, and entertaining way, the origin, natural diversity, and stories of resilience of its inhabitants. It also has 2 temporary rooms for local and international artists and a special room that pays tribute to 146 years of Carnival tradition. The “Museo de la Isla de Cozumel” has bathrooms and an elevator for accessibility. The Museo is under the umbrella of the “Fundación de Parques y Museo de la Isla”.

Take a tour of the Museum to learn about the origin, development, and customs of the Island’s inhabitants. Its main function is to protect and preserve the cultural heritage of the Cozumeleños.

Remember if you live here or are a citizen you qualify for the FPMC Discount Credential. Find full instruction on the Cozumel Sun Website FPMC Credential.

Location: Av. Rafael E. Melgar entre Calle 4 y 6 Norte. Hours: Tuesday to Sunday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
