Here is my Translation of  President Elect Andrés Manuel López Obrador  Speech after his landslide victory:

“An important majority of citizens have decided to start the fourth transformation of public life in Mexico.

I thank everyone who voted for us and gave us their confidence to lead this process of true change. I express my respect to those who voted for other candidates and parties.

I call all Mexicans to reconciliation and to put personal interests, no matter how legitimate, in the general interest. As Vicente Guerrero affirmed: “The country is first”.

The new nation project will seek to establish an authentic democracy. We do not bet on building an open or covert dictatorship.

The changes will be profound, but they will occur in accordance with the established legal order.

There will be business freedom; freedom of expression, association and belief; All individual and social freedoms will be guaranteed, as well as the citizen and political rights enshrined in our Constitution.

In economic matters, the autonomy of the Bank of Mexico will be respected; the new government will maintain financial and fiscal discipline; The commitments made with national and foreign companies and banks will be recognized.

Energy sector contracts signed with individuals will be reviewed to prevent acts of corruption or illegality. If we find anomalies that affect the national interest, we will go to the Congress of the Union, to national and international courts; that is to say, we will always conduct ourselves legally. We will not act arbitrarily nor will there be confiscation or expropriation of property.

The transformation that we will carry out will consist, basically, in banishing the corruption of our country. We will have no problem in achieving this purpose because the people of Mexico are heirs of great civilizations and, therefore, are intelligent, honest and hardworking. Corruption is not a cultural phenomenon but the result of a decadent political regime. We are absolutely sure that this evil is the main cause of social and economic inequality and the violence we suffer. Consequently, eradicating corruption and impunity will be the main mission of the new government.

Under no circumstances will the next President of the Republic allow corruption or impunity. On notice there is no deception: whoever it is, it will be punished. I include fight partners, officials, friends and family. A good judge for the house begins.

Everything saved by fighting corruption and abolishing privileges will be used to boost the country’s development. There will be no need to increase taxes in real terms or indebt the country. There will also be no gasoline (increase). Current spending will decrease and public investment will increase to boost productive activities and create jobs. The purpose is to strengthen the domestic market, to try to produce in the country what we consume and that the Mexican can work and be happy where he was born, where his family, his customs, his cultures are; who wants to emigrate, to do it for pleasure and not for necessity.

The State will stop being a committee at the service of a minority and will represent all Mexicans: rich and poor; to people of the countryside and the city; to migrants, to believers and non-believers, to human beings of all currents of thought and of all sexual preferences.

We will listen to everyone, we will attend to everyone, we will respect everyone, but we will give preference to the humblest and forgotten; especially, to the indigenous peoples of Mexico. For the good of all, first the poor.

It will change the failed strategy of combat to insecurity and violence. More than the use of force, we will attend to the causes that cause insecurity and violence. I am convinced that the most effective and most humane way of dealing with these evils necessarily requires combating inequality and poverty. Peace and tranquility are the fruits of justice.

Starting tomorrow, I will convene representatives of human rights, religious leaders, the UN and other national and international organizations, to meet as many times as necessary and prepare the reconciliation and peace plan for Mexico that we will apply from the beginning of the next government. I will meet every day, very early, with the members of the Public Security Office; that is, there will be unique command, coordination, perseverance and professionalism.

We will be friends of all the peoples and government of the world. In foreign policy, the principles of non-intervention, self-determination of peoples and peaceful settlement of disputes will be applied again. And as President Juarez said: “nothing by force, everything by reason and law”.

With the government of the United States of America, we will seek a relationship of friendship and cooperation for development, always based on mutual respect and the defense of our fellow immigrants who live and work honestly in that country.

I appreciate the expressions of solidarity I have received from leaders and social, political and religious organizations around the world.

We have already answered the first congratulatory calls from Heads of State and Government of some countries. To all, our sincere gratitude and respect.

I must acknowledge the respectful behavior of President Enrique Peña Nieto in this electoral process. Very different from the treatment that the past headlines of the Executive Power gave us.

The plurality and professionalism of the press, radio and television was exemplary. The media were not, as on other occasions, transmission belts for the dirty war. Also my gratitude to the blessed social networks.

Friends:

I reiterate my commitment not to betray the trust that millions of Mexicans have placed in me. I will govern with righteousness and justice. I will not fail them because I maintain ideals and principles that is what I consider most important in my life. But, also, I confess that I have a legitimate ambition: I want to go down in history as a good President of Mexico. I wish with all my soul to highlight the greatness of our country, to help build a better society and to achieve the happiness and happiness of all Mexicans.
