Museo de La Isla de Cozumel Remodeling
The Museum is getting a Facelift! I am pictured below in a new ramp that will enable wheelchairs to enter the museum and enjoy all the exhibits and cultural treasures.
The workers mentioned that there will be an elevator to access the second floor! There will finally be access to the museum restaurant for wheelchairs and people that cannot do stairs! The second floor balcony has an excellent view; we are anticipating their return with glee!

The Final Carnaval Parade might be One-sided
Cozumel authorities are contemplating having the third Carnaval parade shortened. As a result, they plan to have only one pass on the non-seaside of Melgar.
The third and final parade of Cozumel Carnaval has the highest attendance, and the most participants due to the fact that it signals the end of Carnival.
Normally, the parade starts at the convention center and travels to the airport road. (The convention center is behind the Municipal Palace at Q. Roo Park). They make an U-turn and pass on the seaside of Melgar avenue, as they return to the starting point.
The authorities expect around ten thousand people in Quintana Roo Park to attend the “Chayanne” Concert.
The Community is not Happy
The community is in an uproar and hope that this decision will be reversed. Another related concern is that the concert that was billed as “free” will now have seating available for a fee to be close to the stage.
Municipal President Pedro Joaquín Delbouis mentioned that there is the possibility of starting and ending the third parade in front of El Palomar. He noted that the proposed changes are for the safety of the people.
The Carnival parades on Saturday, February 22 and Sunday, February 23 will have two passes, as usual. We will wait and see what happens!
Higher Security Expected at Terminals
Expect to see an increase in security at both Cozumel Maritime Terminals, because of the large number of travelers arriving and departing from Cozumel terminals.
Safety Measures
Consequently, terminal Security personnel will be joined by the National Guard, the Ministry of National Defense (Sedena), and elements of the Secretariat of the Navy (Semar).
The increase in security is above all to guarantee the safety of residents and visitors traveling to and from the island.
