2022 Predial and Trash Fees Payments Made Easy

It is discount time again and as a bonus making your payment is easier than ever. In previous years, you would have to get your invoice for the house taxes in one place, then go to another location to get your invoice for the Basura (trash). No more wandering around the second floor of the Municipal Palace!

Senior Discount Eligible

Senior Discount Eligible

If you qualify for a senior discount, take last year´s invoices for reference and copies of your INAPAM card. Enter at the entrance by the police department. There is a booth staffed by an employee that takes your temperature and dispenses gel.

Make an immediate right to the back of the building. There will be a police officer and a row of chairs behind the building. This officer will direct you to your place in line if there is a line. Everyone so far has had little to no wait.

There are two clerks available to take your documentation and print out your invoices. You will make separate payments for Predial and the Basura. There are two cashiers available to take your payments and hand you your receipts. If you are paying with a debit or credit card, be certain to have your identification handy.

Without a Senior Discount

Everyone else that does not qualify for a senior discount must go into the Municipal Palace. Take your copy of last year´s invoices for reference. I enter through the side door by the police station. Go directly to the cashiers located pass the staircase to the right.

Area that Prints your Invoice

First get in line at any window on your left. There are two clerks in the windows and a clerk sitting just outside the front entrance to the palace. Any of these clerks will take your information and print out your invoices.

2022 Predial and Trash Fees Payments Made Easy

The invoice automatically calculates the discount for paying early. The discount is 20% for paying in December, 15% if you pay in the month of January, and 10% if you pay in the month of February.

Cashiers

Once you have your invoices in hand, move to one of the three cashiers in the windows to your right. You will make separate payments for Predial and the Basura. One of these clerks will take your payments and hand you your receipts. If you are paying with a debit or credit card, be certain to have your identification handy.

COVID Test Requirement Change

COVID Test Requirement Change

President Joe Biden’s latest measures to limit the spread of COVID-19 will increase the hassle factor of flying into the United States, even for American citizens returning from overseas.

Travelers heading to the U.S. must show evidence of a negative test for the virus within one day of boarding their flight. The previous period was three days.

Here is your community on-line Resource! Cannot find an answer? Contact The Cozumel Sun News and we will assist you!

A safety precaution when using an ATM

A safety precaution when using an ATM machine

Press the cancel button two times before inserting your card. This will cancel any configuration made to the machine to steal your pin number.

Update: December 6, 2021:

This information on using the ATM was shared in the Vecino Vigilante group monitored by the state police. I did not therefore seek to verify if it really works. I was contacted by another technician stating this will not work. Thankfully, pushing the cancel button twice will not hurt anything either. I will research this matter further and address it in our next issue.
