Happy Holidays!
We want to wish you and yours a blessed and safe Holiday Season. There will not be an edition of the Cozumel Sun for the week, January 30th, I will be traveling in Mexico with three of my grandchildren. This pandemic is far from being over, please keep practicing safety precautions. Stay safe for yourself, for your loved ones, and for others. May God Bless you!
I am writing this last Cozumel Sun edition of 2021 in Middleburg, Florida. I arrived last Saturday on the 18th and will be back in Cozumel on Christmas Eve. The trip was a last-minute necessity to get my United States driver’s License renewed. The last time around, I renewed my Florida´s driver´s license online. Unfortunately, Florida has changed their entire system.
A nightmare from the start
Since I cannot walk long distances I always travel with our electric wheelchair. The Houston airport was a madhouse. The airline misplaced my wheelchair, and the flight was delayed for hours. There were hundreds of angry stranded travelers in Houston. It was chaos in wheelchair assistance, luggage pickup, customs, immigration, and United customer service areas.
Flight Delays lead to no Transportation
I arrived at three thirty in the morning on Sunday. It was the last airplane to land in the now closing airport in Jacksonville Florida. Since there were no flights scheduled to land, I found myself stranded without a hotel shuttle or taxi service. The car rental companies were closed. There was no answer from either UBER or Lift. Thanks to a sharp Airport Police Officer and an off-duty UBER driver, I made it to my hotel at four thirty in the morning.
Success
It took two trips and switching counties, but I have my driver´s license. I hope my return trip is smoother than the first. I will only be in Cozumel the 24 and 25th. On the 26th I am taking the grandkids to Vera Cruz to visit their relatives for New Years.
Book Exchange Store Closed for the Holidays
The Cozumel Sun Book Exchange Store will be closed December 25 through January 4 for the Holidays! In case of a book emergency contact Sharon Miller at 987 869 3119 she will be at home during that week!
Thank You Supporters
Cozumel Community Kitchens
I want to take this opportunity to thank all of you that have donated to the Cozumel Sun this year. The funds that you designated to the Cozumel Community Kitchens made a difference. There is documentation available of all the transactions. Thanks to you, hundreds of families received a healthy daily meal. The crisis is far from over and the community kitchens still need your support. Not everyone is back to work, and there is a large vulnerable population.
The Cozumel Sun Community Assistance
Thank you those of you that designated your donations to the Cozumel Sun. Due to the financial crisis on the island, donations to the Cozumel Sun also made their way to the community kitchens. A small portion helped us provide five families with groceries, meals, and medical assistance. Your donations of medical equipment have been impressive! This year we received a new nebulizer and two sets of crutches! Thank you! Our readers now drop off medicines on a regular basis.
The Book Exchange and Store
Initially visitors made onetime donations to the book exchange. Unfortunately, most new visitors are neither donating nor purchasing anything at the store. While we are incredibly grateful for the books and puzzles readers have donated, it does not help with the expenses. We need your support more than ever!
The Cozumel Sun Facebook Group is the place to exchange information, ask questions, and get fast responses to any problems you may encounter during this critical time.

Hi Every time that I click on one of your donate icons, I get this message :
https://www.paypal.com/donate/
Thank you Cary! That might explain why no donations have come in! The site crashed on me and it has been difficult getting it back in working order. I did not realize that the donate button was affected. I will get on it right away. In the mean time my paypal email is atreasuryoftrade@msn.com and that is an alternative method to the donate button. Thanks again for letting me know! https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=8WV6K6JYWGVVQ
