The GFNY Cozumel 2022 Race
GFNY Cozumel 2022 race is this weekend! The GFNY stands for Gran Fondo New York. “Gran Fondo” is the Italian term for “big challenge” and stems from skiing, swimming, and cycling endurance races that started in the 1950s. In 2010 GFNY brought the open-to-all marathon format known in running to cycling.
The GFNY In town Route
There are two distances to choose from, the Long Course is 160 kilometers and consists of two loops around the island of Cozumel. The Medium Course is eighty kilometers that circumvents the island of Cozumel once.
Only the finishers of the long course are eligible for category rankings and Overall and Podium awards. Top 10% of finishers in each age group earn a spot in the Qualifier Corral at every GFNY World event.
GFNY Race Road Closures
Due to the GFNY Mexico 2022 Race this weekend in Cozumel, we will have road closures this Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th. Take necessary precautions and help support the competitors🚴🏻♀️🚴🏻.

Book Exchange News
The above picture represents a giant stack of donated books that took me a week to sort through. Not pictured are two JUMBO size trash bags of books sent to recycling as they were too yellowed, mildewed, and torn to use.
The most efficient way to integrate this many books was to reorganize the entire library. I emptied a shelf on the far right of the room and started the alphabet there.
Cozumel Public Library
As I went, I pulled any duplicate books and set them aside for the Cozumel Library. Due to space issues, I decided to also send all magazines, tour books, how to books, and text books to the Cozumel Public Library.
About two days into the project I realised that the book exchange has become a dump site for many damaged books, and I needed to reevaluated our standards.
Damaged books to Recycle
Obviously damaged books from the recently donated boxes were immediately set aside for recycling As long as I was reorganizing, I decided to also also review the books on the shelfs and evaluate their condition.
I must admit my temper sent me on this tizzy. However, I stand by my decision. It is time we put out the word that we need some recently released books donated to the exchange, and request that all donated books are in acceptable condition.
The majority of the people that have donated books in the past have been wonderful. Some have made cash donations to help out, one wonderful couple even sorted them out alphabetically for us.
