Cozumel News February 20

The Cozumel Sun book Exchange has a steady following of delighted customers. However, we have not had the time to properly advertise to places such as local businesses, hotels, hospitals, and schools. Not everyone knows we are here. I believe with more clients we might be able between donations and purchases be able to make ends meet.

Spread the Word

Let your friends and neighbors know what we have to offer. If you engage in a local business, spread the word to your customers. The book exchange is not only for Americans and Canadians! Mexican people have shown interest as I am certain will other bilingual residents and nonresidents. The book exchange would be a great resource for students learning English. Please send people our way!

Our Wish List

We need tall metal bookshelves. New they run about $2,400 pesos each at SAMS. We will happily accept old shelves if they are the metal approximately seven feet tall.

Volunteers are welcome to dust and organize. We need to box duplicate books and donate them to the local library. We have a few hundred books to clean and file once we find the shelves.

Sales Section

One idea a customer gave us was to sell some of the books such as the dictionaries, cookbooks, guidebooks, even the bibles. What do you think?

The Cozumel Sun Community Program – David & Angel Update

Your donations continue to assist us in our ongoing support of Cozumel families. One of the families we continue to help is single parent David and his son Angel.

The dad, David, works hard to be self-sufficient and tries every means possible to care for himself and his son before asking for assistance. We help David with whatever he needs to make ends meet. This past week Angel returned to school fulltime, and we were able to help with lunch money and school expenses. We purchased both the shrimp cocktail and shrimp ceviche today, delicious!

In addition to the families under our care, we continue to provide meals to walk ins, and assist with groceries, school uniforms, and supplies. Our medical equipment loan program is still up and running.

The Cozumel Sun News promotes Cozumel Mexico Community Programs for FREE in The Cozumel Sun Facebook Group. To Volunteer or Donate check out this section in our website.

Welcome to the Cozumel Sun! Since 2006, TCS website, Facebook Group, and Facebook page has provided the latest news and information from Cozumel, Mexico. There are no paid staff. TCS is non-profit and non-government funded. Donations help pay for website expenses, taxes, and fees. Donations support our community assistance program. TCS Community Assistance TCS provides assistance to local individuals and families with emergency food, medical expenses and medication. We help with school related expenses for children in the immediate neighborhood (Colonia Independencia). We have a ""drop in" meal policy, we feed the hungry no questions asked. We encourage both residents and visitors to give back to this island paradise by volunteering and donating to these existing community programs. TCS has successful matched those that want to help and those in need for many years. During the Pandemic, our resources go to the Community Kitchens that are feeding hundreds in Cozumel.
